10 Steps to Winterize Your Camper

10 Steps to Winterize your camper ( or similar unit ) 


Number 1 on this list is are you sure it is time to park it -- more than once I have come across the “Just one more trip” and have to do this all again .. 


2) Empty both black and grey sewage tanks

3) drain the main water tank ---

4) relieve the pressure on the hot water tank and drain the tank ---

5) Add antifreeze to the main water tank ---

6) locate the antifreeze spigot ( not the correct term ) “T” and open the line to the hose

7) Turn on the water pump and make sure that the antifreeze gets to the pump

8) once pressurized turn on the taps and run them until the antifreeze runs out, repeat this for all; taps, shower, outside shower, use sink on both sides to fill the traps with antifreeze and also the toilet ---

9) Make sure that you have also gotten the hot water tank lines purged ---

10) Turn off the pump and open all the taps ---

Open all taps to run anti freeze


This works for our camper and yours may very somewhat but you should get the basics to do it. I also take into account a few assumptions here .


  1. That you have cleaned your camper
  2. That it is parked and not going to move until next season 
  3. You will disconnect all power and propane from the camper once done.
