Time Flies When You Are Having FUN
Been awhile eh, hope everyone is well and not letting the issues of the day get them down.
Any how this post I would like to chat about MY SHOP -- Darren's Garage -- I have been spending a few days in here ( when it is warm) to pass then time and enjoy what I love doing. It does not seem that long ago that we started this website and blog post stuff . Not sure if that is what you call this or not, I am sure the Nordic Boss Babe will let me know of the correct terms as I rely on her for the details stuff .. THANKS BABE. This is just the start of a 3 or 4 installment blog about what I have been doing for fun since I last posted and it only seems right to give you an idea of where I am doing all this FUN stuff. So here it goes
Blog about the shop 1:
What does you shop look like? Mine has 6 or maybe 7 stations or areas that I work in and this past year I have also added and taken out a couple that need some rearranging. When you enter Darren's Garage you are greeted by the lovely posterior of what ever project I am working on at that moment, today happens to be our single axle gravel truck, that we are getting road worthy again for the new business. It is also the welding area close to the door as I also have a huge outdoor shop that I still use when I need the space ( or its nice out) I have my welder, cutting torch, cut off saw, air compressors and various supplies in this corner along with the grinders and the all important fire extinguishers. I also have my drill press mounted on a stand that serves as the compound miter saw stand. I know right MULTI-TALENTED eh . Along that wall ( north side BTW) is some wood working items, a table saw, small planer and a couple of rolling carts that hold that day particular project. Electrical for the gravel truck today and a small hanger I was welding up for Wired Studios 81 last week that I had not painted yet. Again with the MULTI-TALENTED I am thing here HA HA HA -- We all need to smile you know.
Along the wall we installed a 3/4 length bench with draws full of all kinds of paraphernalia of nuts and bolts, old carbs and pieces there of, welding supplies, assorted hardware from stuff that need to be "lite weighted " , sled- bike-atv and such little items, ONE Harley Davidson highway bar foot peg because I lost one and do not want to through it out even though I had to buy another set, you never know right. On top of the bench I have " in storage" a bunch of wood projects and a few metal ones that I am going to get to in the next couple of days -IF IT EVER WARMS UP- along with my battery charging station. This is probably one of the most used areas for my shop for non-shop work, I personally do not count charging batteries as work. I do how ever have at least 4 ready and able to go at any time from the atv's to the skid steer and the pavement princess along with a couple for anyone needing . There is also the oil stand with all my lubricants from oil and gear lube to grease and antifreeze I have it all there.
Now if you happen to ever find yourself in Darren's Garage you will notice that the walls are decorated art, YES I know art is in the eye or the beholder, however in this case it is more of a collection of art and cultural material that adorn the brightly lite walls of the garage than paintings behind glass. If any of you are familiar with WURTH then you no doubt have seen their calender's. I have them from 2006 until 2020 only missing 2009 ( if you know of anyone that would have such art and interested in trades please let me know eh ) and on the other wall I have Bike and all the lovely scantly clad ladies that where on our BMS and WCP calender's along with a few car ones. Now having all of this ART does help pass the time while I wait for paint to dry or other such time consuming tasks like working on a carb rebuild and such. It's much better than just the bear walls and I must admit it is much easier on the eyes that reading drill index charts HA HA HA ??
So if you ever need anything repaired or serviced and I would like to admire the "art" feel free to drop me a line you never know where I will be.
Thanks for reading this far, I would really like to hear from you fine folks about your shop and what you have on the walls for "ART" and how many little projects you have on the go. Smile -- It looks good on you eh.
